II. Announcements:
a. USA Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships will be held in San Jose, California, July 22-27, 2011.
b. USA will not be hosting Freedom Cup this year
c. USA has submitted a bid for 2012 World Championships
III. Marcia DeGuire, Regional Administrative Chair for Region 7, was a special guest at the meeting.
IV. Review of 2009-2010 competition season:
a. Successful year internationally for Region 3:i. Senior Men’s Pair of Axel Osborne and Dylan Inserra finished 7th at 2010 World Championships, and 4th at the 2010 Volkov Cup (WOGA)
ii. Senior Women’s Pair of Beth Landeche and Nicole Barrileaux competed at the 2010 World Championships. (CCG)
iii. 12-19 Women’s Pair of Valerie Bryant and Hayley Lemmons competed at the 2010 World Age Group Competition. (BGC)
iv. 11-16 Women’s Pair of Maren Merwarth and Taylor Mosher competed at the 2010 World Age Group Competition (AGSA)
V. Region 3 Funds:
a. No report available.
b. Discussion was made regarding the possibility of Region 3 providing support for athletes attending international competitions.
c. Fundraiser(s) will be allowed at the Regional Championships to aid in raising money for international travel for athletes in Region 3. No additional financial support is provided through the region at this time.
d. Michelle Merwarth and Brandi Lewis will lead fundraiser efforts during Regionals.
VI. State Fund Reports:
a. Texas: Balance of $1169.46 with athlete support for World Championships and World Age Group Competition was given to 3 pairs in the amount of $294.00 per pair. The funds were raised from t-shirt sales throughout local season as well as a quilt raffle at Regional Championships. b. Louisiana:i. Account information not available.
ii. Selena Peco proposed changing regulations for Louisiana State Meet to be funded by clubs instead of the Governor Games. This would include a head tax similar to what Texas currently does at their State meet. Arguments for this change included more volunteers, more money earned to benefit the club who hosts the meet.
VII. National Clinics and Competitions:
a. No Super Clinic will be held this year.
b. Two National Judges Clinics will be held:
i. Kansas City, Missouri – February 5-6, 2011c. Acro Cup Competition will be held at Karolyi’s in February to determine international assignments and to name additional Junior and Senior National Team Members. d. Discussion was made concerning VISA Championships which will not include Acrobatic Gymnastics this season or in the future.
ii. San Jose, California – January 15-16, 2011
VIII. Region 3 Regulation Updates (available at www.txacro.org):
a. Edit IIIG – submitted to National Office (nomination on website). b. Edit IIIH - must be present to vote; online meetings may still be held c. Edit IVF – Scratch final sentence in paragraph. d. Edit IXC1 – Level 5 to Level 7 – Compulsory Levels e. Edit IXD1 – 30.0 not 20.0 f. No change to meet fees

IX. Discussion was made regarding proxy voting and absentee voting for the Regional meeting. USAG does not allow proxy voting. Distance is not a reason for missing a meeting when time is allotted to make arrangements. Unaffiliated judges can vote at the meeting if present. One vote per USAG member club allowed.

X. Clarification of “Unaffilitated”: An athlete, coach, or judge is considered unaffiliated once their USAG membership states as such.
XI. 2011 Region 3 Regional Championships was awarded to WOGA Gymnastics in Frisco, Texas. The meet will take place on June 11-12, 2011. Regional information was presented by Brandi Lewis.
XII. Selena Peco presented an update for the 2010 Acro Program Plan and Program Committee Minutes. Minutes are available online: USA Gymnastics
XIII. Junior Olympic Program updates were presented by Selena Peco:
a. Level 8 is no longer a separate level from 11-16. All Level 8 athletes will compete against each other within age groups from Locals through Nationals. International meets will stay 11-16.
b. Possible addition of a division between 11-16 and 12-19.
c. FIG rules are available for review online. Coaches must be familiar with these rules.
d. Level 8:
i. Will now have choices in rows similar to Level 7e. JONT is for talent identification only – athletes will get warm-ups and training camp opportunities but no international assignments.
ii. Top restrictions: credit for no more than 2 statics and 2 motions per top position
iii. No value for transitions
iv. Emphasis on artistry and execution
v. 2.0 deductions will change to 1.0
f. JO Changes:
i. Level 6 MXP – 6a removed and replaced with 6a WP Boost to wrap
ii. Level 6 MXP – 8a removed and replaced with 5a/b WP skill
iii. Page 9, general information in 4th paragraph of Level 4-7: straddle by top or middle can be in either straddle, tuck or pike. They are considered interchangeable.
iv. Level 8 MXP – 1st row: add toe pitch straight jump, same as WP
v. Written technical updates will be published.
XIV. New Business:
a. Texas Judges course – tentatively scheduled for February 19th
b. Tentative Lower Level Athlete Clinics:
i. 1st week of April or last week of January 2011c. Upper Level Athlete Clinic – Lorna Spellman and Michelle Merwarth checking availability for March
ii. Selena will offer a clinic in Louisiana in January 2011.
d. Pairs and trios that do not meet USAG Acrobatic Gymnastics guidelines (i.e. Mixed trios), can participate at local level competitions if approved by hosting club. Normal meet fees apply.
e. Discussion was made regarding cheerleading and USAG absorbing college all-star cheer.

- Option for L6 WG row 4: adding toe pitch and basket either front or back
- L7 WG will have more options for row 1, different category 2 pyramids to choose from.
- L7 MG will be added.
- L4 compulosry music and choreography will be implemented after December 2009.
- L7 WP 2c changed to calf mount; cannot combine for 2c and 3a, must rebuild skill set.
- L7 WG row 1 – current skill will remain with 1a and 1b in the same box. 1c is now 1b. New 1c is cacoon 89-A-5. Either top/middle can be in straddle, pike, croc or low handstand.

- 2010 Region 3 Regional Championship was awarded to Fliptastics in Belle Chasse, LA. The meet will take place on June 19, 2010 at Elmwood Gymnastics. Regional bid information was emailed to all clubs.
- There was discussion about whether to have a 1-day meet or 2-day meet. It was decided that Regionals will be a 1-day meet again this year.
- Selena would like to try and use the computerized scoring system used at Nationals at the 2010 Regional Championships and possibly State as well.

- Compulsory Athlete Clinic is scheduled for December 5, 2009, at Boerne Gymnastics. This is for athletes Levels 1 – 7. Tentative cost is $20 per athlete.
- Optional Athlete Clinic is scheduled for February 6-7, 2010, at USA Aerial Athletics in San Antonio, TX. This clinic is for athletes Levels 8 – Elite. Linda Meier for ATA will be the lead clinician. Cost is estimated at $65 per athlete.
- Selena proposed a possible lower level clinic to be scheduled in the New Orleans area.
- Regional Committee Officers will be elected at the 2010 Regional Championships. Present officers are:

- Online forum provided a successful atmosphere for the 2009 Region 3 Meeting. A printed transcript of the meeting is available upon request to Brandi Lewis.
- George Jessup opened discussion regarding assisting Mexico in creating a national acrobatics organization. Selena will ask Tom Housley about guidelines for helping Mexico as well as the possibility of inviting Mexico and Canada to US meets.
- Lorna asked about Canada attending Texas State. Selena will check with Tom Housley regarding this.
- Texas Judges Clinic is set for February 20 and 21, 2010, at Brown’s Gymnastics in San Antonio, Texas.
- Louisiana Judges Clinic is tentative set for January 24 or January 31, 2010.

No age groups for Level 10 in preparation for Elite competition.
Level 4-10 have a maximum age of 30 for competitors, with up to a 15-year age difference between partners.

Judges uniforms can be black or navy. Closed-toe shoes must be worn.
No artistry score will be given to Level 4 or 5 this season. Mass and maturity will be taken from execution or as a CJP deduction. Clarification to come.
Level 7 specifications should be available at the end of November 2008.

Affiliation Guidelines as written in the USA Gymnastics Rules and Policies will be added to the 2008 Region 3 Regulations.
Mileage for Judges will no be implemented in Region 3 at this time.

Regional Athlete Clinic for upper levels (Level 8 to Elite) will be held at Brown’s Gymnastics in San Antonio, Texas, on February 21 – 22, 2009. The cost is $20 per athlete and will take place on Saturday 1:00 – 6:00 p.m., and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Texas Judges Clinic is tentatively set for February 7-8, 2009, with Selena Peco as the clinician. Brown’s Gymnastics in San Antonio, Texas, will be hosting the Texas clinic.
Members approved the requirement of a computerized scoring system to be used at Regional Championships.

State Fund Reports
Texas report was given by Lorna Spellman. The current balance is $663.59. In 2006-2007, money was spent on a clinic and maintaining the Texas Acrobatics website (www.txacro.org)
Louisiana report was not formally given due to the absence of Jackie Latino. Selena Peco notified the members that the LA generates funds by using the LA State Meet as a fundraiser. This money is allocated to Louisiana athletes traveling to international competitions. An official report has been requested from JL.
Regional Fund Report was given by Courtney LeJeune. Regional money was used to buy Regional Awards this season. The current balance is approximately $490.00.
An update from the 2007 National Meeting was provided by Selena Peco. The following minutes were reviewed and discussed:
Acrobatic Gymnastics Junior Olympic Committee Minutes from July 27, 2007. Major Points discussed:
Level 7 bonus eliminated to standardize this level with the other developmental levels. The change is effective January 2008.
FIG Skill Evaluation deadline has passed, but new US Skill Evaluations deadline is postmarked by April 30, 2008.
How-to-Book Draft was provided for the members to look through.
2008 clarifications were reviewed.
Pre-team Program Draft was discussed and coming out soon.
Instructional videos for L4 and L5 coming out soon from the National Office. Videos for L6 and L7 are being compiled.
Acrobatic Gymnastics Program Committee Minutes, San Jose, CA from August 17-19, 2007. Major points discussed:
Revised Tariff Sheet and Minor Change Forms
“Level 8 and above athletes are ineligible to compete at National Championships in multiple events.” – This decision will be revisited by the Program Committee at the November meeting.
New rule – All music must be on a CD for competition.
Technical Update was given by Courtney LeJeune. Major points discussed:
Brevet judges may enter the US levels at National rating if the certification exam is passed.
Incorrect or Illegible Tariff Sheets will receive deductions when mistakes are found. A 0.1 deduction will be assessed per every two mistakes.
Region 3 Regulations were reviewed and updated.
R3 Expense Fund
“All R3 clubs with registered competing athletes in the region will pay $25 dues each year to the R3 fund to be paid at the annual R3 meeting or within 30 days of the meeting. A late fee of $10 per month will be applied with the exception of new clubs.”

Region 3 Star Service Award criteria
Nomination process:
The Star Service Award nominee can be nominated by any current registered USA professional member from a club that has current registered competing athletes or an unaffiliated judge.
The Star Service Award nominee can be a USAG member, volunteer, or individual involved with the Acrobatic Gymnastics Program in Region 3.
The Star Service Award is selected by vote – one per club that has registered competing athletes in Region 3 and one per unaffiliated judge.
Qualifications: Outstanding volunteer service and dedication to the Acrobatic Gymnastics Program in Region 3.

Regional Championships was awarded to Leaps and Bounds Sports Center to be hosted at Athletes in Motion in Prairieville, LA, on Saturday, June 21, 2008. Warm-ups are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. Hotel information will be provided prior to the competition.

Program Development Task Force was discussed. The PDTF was created to help promote the sport of Acro in each region. Selena Peco, Brandi Lewis, and Lorna Spellman were chosen to help educate new coaches and clubs with Region 3. Educational materials are currently being created.
Region 3 Athlete Clinic was discussed but the decision was made to decline a clinic for 2008 but plan for a clinic in 2009.
